After business involving the Archdale Planning Board was concluded a review and discussion was held among the Randolph County Planning Board and the City of Archdale Board concerning the land around the one mile jurisdiction of the City of Archdale. A presentation to the county was made concerning Archdale's updated Land Use and Development Maps. Three large areas in Archdale are expected to be zoned for Industrial use on the city's new land use map. Areas expected to become industrial is land along Interstate 85; areas around the Archdale Industrial Park; and a large area of land in the Mendenhall Road and Uwharrie Road vacinity. Other projected changes from the 1977 land use map is commercial zoning for the area north of Highway ' 62 and between U. S. 311 and Archdale Road. Areas below the Archdale Industrial Park continue rural residential zoning. It was discussed by members of both. Boards that because of the increased growth in the Archdale/Trinity area it is important for the city and the county to understand what each projects for future development. It was also discussed that many of the problems confronting the county and the City of Archdale were due to neither government having zoning and land use planning until relatively a few years ago. Both Boards agreed that land development problems would be increasing in other townships of the county without an expansion of the County's zoning jurisdiction to protect these areas. It was felt by all present that the county should consider expanding it's zoning jurisdiction on a county-wide basis. 2. The joint meeting was adjourned by Chairman Wesley Umberger at 9:30 p.m. RANDOLPH COUNTY '_ • NORTH CAROLINA _ .'-- -/ Z -- 2-< Hal Johnson / Administrative Officer 4 j- y .Q '471 i ' •-• :.... ;dam `, ..('. a, 4,3,, " NOT Y 777% My Ccmm,_sion Expires f ovaT:::ber 5, 1985
