Closed Session I – Petty’s Garage - July 8, 2019
At 7:58 p.m., the Board convened closed session to consider matters relating to the location
or expansion of industries or other businesses in the area served by the public body, including
agreement on a tentative list of economic development incentives that may be offered by the public
body in negotiations pursuant to \[NCGS 143-318.11(a)(4)\]. Chairman Darrell Frye, Vice-
Chairman David Allen, Commissioners Kenny Kidd, Maxton McDowell, and Hope Haywood
were present. Also present were County Manager Hal Johnson, Finance Officer Will Massie,
County Attorney Ben Morgan, Associate County Attorney Aimee Scotton, Clerk to the Board
Dana Crisco, and Deputy Clerk Sarah Pack.
Chairman Frye gave an update on the Golden Leaf grant for Petty’s Garage. He stated that the
last payment on the Golden Leaf Grant for Petty’s Garage had been issued in 2017. One of the
requirements for the grant was job creation. If this is not met, Petty’s Garage will default on the
grant and the County may have to pay back money already received.
At 8:03 p.m., closed session ended on this topic.
