Closed Session Î Archdale Roelee Street Ï July 11, 2022
At 7:40 p.m., the Board convened in closed session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(4) to
discuss matters relating to the location or expansion of industries or other businesses in the area
served by the public body, including agreement on a tentative list of economic development
incentives that may be offered by the public body in negotiations. Chairman Darrell Frye, Vice-
Chairman David Allen, Commissioner Kenny Kidd, Commissioner Maxton McDowell, and
Commissioner Hope Haywood were present. Also present from the County were County Manager
Hal Johnson, Assistant County Manager/Finance Officer Will Massie, County Attorney Ben
Morgan, Associate County Attorney Aimee Scotton, Deputy Clerk Sarah Pack, and Clerk to the
Board Dana Crisco. Present from Randolph County Economic Development Corporation (EDC)
were President Kevin Franklin and Business Recruitment Director Crystal Gettys.
Ms. Gettys said that a company that makes trusses for residential property is considering a site
in Archdale to build a manufacturing facility. There is competition with two other sites in different
states. There is a potential of 130 jobs with above average wages. The estimated investment is
$19,500,00. The site will require rail service. The City of Archdale was also considering the offer.
Ms. Gettys recommended that Randolph County give incentives in the amount of $267,000 over
four years.
Discussion on this topic ended to address another economic development project in Closed
Session.
