221003 Closed Session Property Aquisition Closed Session Î Property Acquisition Ï October 3, 2022 At 8:13 p.m., the Board convened in closed session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(5) to establish or instruct the public bodyÓs staff or negotiating agents concerning the position to be taken by or on behalf of the public body in negotiating the price and other material terms of a contract or proposed contract for the acquisition of real property by purchase, option, exchange, or lease. Chairman Darrell Frye, Vice-Chairman David Allen, Commissioner Hope Haywood, Commissioner Maxton McDowell, and Commissioner Kenny Kidd were present. Also present from the County were County Manager Hal Johnson, Assistant County Manager/Finance Officer Will Massie, County Attorney Ben Morgan, County Engineer Paxton Arthurs, and Clerk Dana Crisco. Present from Randolph County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) was President Kevin Franklin. Mr. Arthurs said that the owner of the property needed for the pump station on the Wall Brothers site had decided to ask more money for the property. The owner now wanted $76,398 for the property. The Board was in consensus that Mr. Arthurs could accept that offer on behalf of the Board. At 8:25 p.m., on motion of Allen, seconded by McDowell, the Board voted 5-0 to end Closed Session and return to Regular Session. ________________________________ _________________________________ Darrell L.
