241104 Closed Session Economic Development Special Closed Session Î Economic Development Ï November 4, 2024 At 7:51 p.m., the Board convened in closed session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(4) to discuss matters relating to the location or expansion of industries or other businesses in the area served by the public body. Chairman Darrell Frye, Vice-Chairman David Allen, Commissioner Hope Haywood, Commissioner Kenny Kidd, and Commissioner Maxton McDowell were present. Staff present from the County were County Manager Zeb Holden, Assistant County Manager/Finance Officer Will Massie, Assistant County Manager/Operations William Johnson, County Attorney Ben Morgan, Associate Attorney Aimee Scotton, and Clerk to the Board Dana Crisco. Crystal Gettys, Economic Development CorporationBusiness Recruitment Director, was present as well. Ms. Gettys said that a 100-year-old company that manufactures precast concrete was looking for a location for a new facility. They had investigated a site in Virginia they liked. If that site doesnÓt work out, they may come to Randolph County. The old Hughes Furniture building would work for their needs. They may be eligible for a One NC Grant and a Building Reuse Grant. The project would bring 60 jobs with an average pay of $63,000.
