c040510 II _Randleman Ambulance Base_Closed Session II (Randleman Ambulance Base) April 5, 2010 At 6:05 p.m., the Board, already in closed session on another matter, began closed session on a different matter relating to the acquisition of real property pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(5). Commissioners Holmes, Frye, Kemp, Haywood and Lanier were present. Also present were County Manager Richard Wells; Will Massie, Finance Officer; Darren Allen, County Attorney; Aimee Scotton, Associate County Attorney; and Cheryl Ivey, Clerk to the Board. County Manager Richard Wells said that the bidding has ended on the sale of the current Randleman ambulance base, with Kelley Properties, representing Sheetz, having submitted the highest bid at $893,127.50. He said that the staff attorney is currently evaluating all the contingencies of their bid and that this matter would be on the Commissioners' May agenda for their consideration. Mr. Wells said that he has been busy since last summer trying to locate a suitable property to relocate the Randleman base. Unfortunately, NCDOT has imposed so many restrictions and requirements on the property located at the end of Academy Street, that this option has become cost prohibitive. Also, due to recent sales, the price of another site being considered, located on the north end of Business 220 near Randleman, has become too expensive, as well. Mr. Wells asked the Board if they had any objection to locating the base at EDC's industrial park on Island Ford Rd., off of Hwy 311, if this is agreeable with the EDC. The Commissioners had no objections to this and empowered Mr. Wells, along with Commissioner Kemp, to continue to look and negotiate as needed to find a suitable location. On motion of Kemp, seconded by Frye, the Board voted unanimously to end closed session at 6:12 P.m. J. Harold Holmes, Chairman Darrell L. Frye Phil Kemp Arnold Lanier Stan Haywood Cheryl A.
