c110110 III _Personnel_Closed Session III (Personnel) November 1, 2010 At 5:22 p.m., the Board, already in closed session on another matter, began discussion on a different matter in order to consider the qualifications, competence, performance, condition of appointment of a public officer or employee or prospective public officer or employee, pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(6). Commissioners Holmes, Frye, Kemp, Lanier and Haywood were present. Also present were County Manager Richard Wells; Will Massie, Finance Officer; Darren Allen, County Attorney; and Cheryl Ivey, Clerk to the Board. Darren Allen, County Attorney, announced that he had accepted an Assistant District Attorney position for Judicial District 19B and will serve as the Assistant District Attorney for Montgomery County. He begins the new position effective December 1, 2010. He said that it had been a real honor to serve the Board for the last two years. The Board discussed possible candidates for the County Attorney position and directed the County Manager, along with Commissioner Kemp, to offer the position to local attorney Ben Morgan and to report to the Board in closed session immediately following the two public hearings at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. on November 16, 2010. At 6:00 p.m., on motion of Frye, seconded by Kemp, the Board voted unanimously to end closed session and to resume regular session. J. Harold Holmes, Chairman Darrell L.
