c070912II(Petty)Closed Session II (Petty)—July 9, 2012 At 7:15 p.m., the Board, already in closed session on another matter, began closed session on a different matter relating to the location or expansion of business in the area, pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(4). Commissioners Holmes, Frye, Kemp, Lanier and Haywood were present. Also present were County Manager Richard Wells; Will Massie, Assistant County Manager/Finance Officer; Ben Morgan, County Attorney; Aimee Scotton, Associate County Attorney; Cheryl Ivey, Clerk to the Board; and Bonnie Renfro from Randolph County Economic Development Corporation. Bonnie Renfro told the Commissioners that she had been approached by Dave Swartzendruber, Portfolio CEO for Petty's Garage, who said they are pursuing development of an electric racing vehicle prototype and seeking seed money for the venture. In addition, they plan an acquisition that would create 3-4 new jobs. One related idea has been mentioned, however, that has great merit: declaring the Lee Petty home place and Petty Garage historic landmarks. Ms. Renfro said that she would keep the Board updated. Closed session on this topic ended at 7:20 p.m. J. Harold Holmes, Chairman Darrell L. Frye Phil Kemp Arnold Lanier Stan Haywood Cheryl Ivey, Clerk to the Board
