041480RANDOLPH COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS April 14, 1980 Minutes The Randolph County Board of Commissioners met April 14, 1980 at 10:00 A.M. with the following members present: Richard K. Pugh, Chm., Kenyon Davidson, Thurman Hogan, Richard Petty, and Matilda Phillips. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Richard K. Pugh. Motion was made by Matilda Phillips, seconded by Kenyon Davidson to approve the minutes of March 10, 1980 and March 27, 1980. This motion was unanimously approved. Katy Vuncannon, Mental Health Director, requested the Board to. allow the Mental Health Center to employ a Special Education teacher for the pre-school emotionally disturbed children. Motion was made by Thurman Hogan, seconded by Matilda Phillips to approve the employment of a Speci-ai Education teacher for pre-school emotionally disturbed children. This motion was unanimously approved. Motion was made by Thurman Hogan, seconded by Matilda Phillips to appoint Don Heard as Fire Marshall as of May 1, 1980. This motion was unanimously approved. Motion was made by Richard Petty, seconded by Thurman Hogan to approve the following resolution for Roscoe Miller Rd. located in the southwest quadrant of Randolph County and the motion was unanimously approved: RESOLUTION Roscoe Miller Rd. WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Randolph requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and the WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the Division of Highways of the Department of Transportation for the addition of roads to the System. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Randolph that the Division of Highways is hereby requested to review the above described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established standards and criteria. (4) Motion was made by Matilda Phillips, seconded by Kenyon Davidson to adopt the following resolution honoring Linda Cockerham and the motion was unanimously approved: WHEREAS, Linda Carol Cockerham has faithfully served for the past thirteen (13) years as Technical Services Assistant of the Randolph Public Library and is continuing to serve in this capacity and; WHEREAS, she was chosen by Pilot International as the recipient of the "Handicapped Professional Woman of the Year" Award for Randolph County in 1980; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Randolph County Board of Commissioners in meeting duly assembled the 14th day of April, 1980, that Linda Carol Cockerham be commended for her service to the Randolph Public Library and for achieving recognition as the "Handicapped Professional Woman of the Year" for Randolph County.
