RANDOLPH COUNTY PLANNING BOARD
MINUTE S
December 9 , 1981
On Wednesday, December 9 , 1981, at 1 : 30 p .m. the Randolph
County Planning Board met in the Conference Room of the Department
of Public Health Building, McDowell Governmental Center, Asheboro ,
- North Carolina. The following members were present :
Ray Farlow, Vice-Chairman
Andrew Lueker ABSENT
Jim Newton
Doyle Stout Don Hancock
Terry Coble
Joyce Davis
1 . Andrew Lueker made the motion, seconded by Joyce Davis to approve
the October 28 Planning Board Minutes . This motion passed.
2 . Vice-Chairman Ray Farlow adjourned the Planning Board Meeting
and convened the Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting. The following
case was scheduled for Board of Adjustment review:
A. Arnold H. Mann, Thomasville, North Carolina, requests that
he be given a dimensional variance from the County Zoning Ordinance
to allow him to place two mobile homes classified as a Mobile Home
Park on a 30 ,000 square foot lot .
LOCATION OF PROPERTY : Trinity Township , State Road #1668 , 30 ,000
square feet ; Zoning Map 1-1 ; Tax Book 1 , Page 111 .
Hal Johnson advised the Board that the property was located in a
Residential-Suburban zone and the primary residences in the area were
mobile homes . The 30 , 000 square foot lot being considered was the
last residential tract in the area.
A report from the Health Department indicated that the soil
would be suitable for well water and septic tank installation for
two Mobile Homes , classified as a Mobile Home Park . Should the
septic tank system fail the occupants would be required to repair
or abandon the property.
After review and discussion, Jim Newton made the motion, seconded
by Terry Coble that the request be approved. This motion passed.
(Vice-Chairman Ray Farlow adjourned the Board of Adjustment and
convened the Planning Board)

3 . Hal Johnson reported to the Boardthat he was establishing a
Central Data Center for Planning and Development information . The
areas to be covered will include population trends ; labor force ;
employment trends ; construction/housing ; and other general
statistical information that might be of interest .
4. The Planning Board viewed a brief slide presentation that
gave an overview of Randolph County. The side presentation
touched on areas of economic development and life in Randolph
County.
5 . The following Subdivision was approved under Minor Subdivision
Regulations :
A. Johnson 0. Barker Subdivision, 6 tracts , Randleman Township ,
U. S . 311 and State Road #1951 and State Road #1952 .
6 . Being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
