RANDOLPH COUNTY PLANNING BOARD
MINUTES
April 20, 1983
There was a meeting of the Randolph County Planning Board on Wednesday,
April 20, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Department of
Public Health Building, McDowell Governmental Center, Asheboro, North
Carolina. The following members were present:
Don Hancock, Chairman ABSENT
Doyle Stout, Vice-Chairman
Joyce Davis Ray Farlow
Terry Coble
Tal Harrison
Andrew Lueker
1. Terry Coble made the motion, seconded by Tal Harrison to approve the
minutes of the March 23 meeting. This motion was approved .
2. Bill Hedrick, Trinity, North Carolina, was present at the Board meeting
and requested that approximately 8 acres located on State Road #1546; Trinity
Township; Zoning Map 2-3; be re-zoned from Residential-Agricultural to Conditional
Use Light Industrial to allow the construction of a Furniture Manufacturing business.
No persons attended the Board Meeting concerning this request to express
opposition.
After review and discussion, Joyce Davis made the motion, seconded by Terry
Coble to recommend that the re-zoning request be approved. This motion was approved.
3. Andrew Lueker advised the Board that he was resigning from the Board effective
this date. Mr. Lueker was moving out of state.
Chairman Hancock and the other Board Members expressed their appreciation to
Andy for the excellent job he had done as a Board Member since he was appointed
8 years ago.
4. Tal Harrison suggested to the Planning Board that a joint meeting between the
County Planning Board and the City of Archdale's Planning Board might be very
beneficial. County Commissioner Darrel Frye had suggested the idea to Mr.
Harrison and was in support.
The purpose of the joint meeting would be for the two Planning Boards to get.
to know each other and to develop a better understanding of the special problems
that confront both citizen advisory boards as related to future planning and
development.

All members of the Board were in agreement as to the desirability of a joint
Planning Board Meeting. Chairman Don Hancock asked Hal Johnson to contact the
Archdale City Manager or Mayor to arrange such a meeting. Although May is
a difficult time, it was felt June might be a good date.
5. Being no further bisiness the Board adjourned, after having a special cake
(prepared by Joyce Davis) and coffe and coke to honor Board Member Andy Lueker.
