08AugustPB MINUTES RANDOLPH COUNTY PLANNING BOARD August 3, 1983 There was a meeting of the Randolph County Planning Board on Wednesday, August 3, 1983 at 1: 30 p.m. in Courtroom B, Randolph County Courthouse, Asheboro, North Carolina. The following members were present: Don Hancock, Chairman ABSENT Ray Farlow Joyce Davis Doyle Stout Terry Coble Tal Harrison Henry Darr Charles Adams (Alternate) 1. Terry Coble made the motion, seconded by Tal Harrison to approve the minutes of the June 29 meeting. This motion passed unanimously. 2. SPECIAL USE PERMIT REQUEST A. Norman Andrews, Agent for Martin-Marietta Corporation requested a Special Use Permit to locate a Radio Transmission Tower on approximately 6 acres located on Mendenhall Road; below State Road 1614; Zoning Map 1-1; near the Guilford • County line; Trinity Township. Mr. Andrews advised the Board that the Radio Tower would set in the middle of the 6 acres and had been approved by the F.C.C. and the Companies engineers. He stated that there would be no adverse effects to adjoining property owners from the guidewires because of the large tract the tower would be located in the middle of. The Radio Tower would be owned by Radio Station WGOS in High Point. No persons attended the meeting to express opposition to the Special Use Permit Request. After discussion, Terry Coble made the motion, seconded by Joyce Davis to approve the request. This motion passed unanimously. 3. Arlie Culp, U. S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, attended the meeting to request that the Planning Board appoint a representative to the Resource Conservation & Development Agency. Former Planning Board member Andrew Lueker had previously represented the Planning Board on this agency. Terry Coble made the motion, seconded by Joyce Davis to appoint Hal Johnson to represent the Planning Board. This motion passed unanimously. 4. Hal Johnson gave the Planning Board a review of County-wide Development Patterns for the past 18 Month Period. The statistics reflected a steady rise of growth as reflected by the economy. Substantial growth had been experienced in the Trinity Township/New Market area and those townships surrounding Asheboro, such as Back Creek, Franklinville, Cedar Grove and Grant. 5. The Board set as its next meeting date Wednesday, August 31, 1983. 6. Being no further business the Board adjourned at 2:15.
