There was a meeting of the County Planning Board on Wednesday, March 6, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. , Courtroom B, County Courthouse, Asheboro, North Carolina. The following members were present: Don Hancock, Chairman ABSENT Doyle Stout, Vice-Chairman Charles Adams Bud Osborne Tal Harrison Terry Coble Ray Farlow 1. Charles Adams made the motion, seconded by Terry Coble, to approve the minutes of the February 6, 1985 meeting. This motion passed. 2. Terry Coble made the motion, seconded by Tal Harrison, to elect Don Hancock to serve as Chairman of the County Planning Board and Doyle Stout to serve as Vice- Chairman for 1985. This motion was passed unanimously by the Board. The Board recognized Chairman Hancock for his long and dedicated service as a member of the Planning Board. Don Hancock was first appointed to the Board when it was first organized in 1965. He has served as Chairman since 1975. 3. The following requests for property re-zoning were considered: A. Archie L. Honbarrier, High Point, North Carolina, requested that approximately 11 acre located on the corner of Davis Street and Bethel Drive (Near the I-85 Exit) ; Trinity Township; Zoning Map 1-1; be re-zoned from Residential Suburban to Light Industrial. Bucky Umbler, High Point, North Carolina, attended the meeting representing `.� Mr. Honbarrier. Mr. Umbler advised that the property was desired to be zoned industrial so that it would provide additional connector area to a 40 acre industrial tract located behind the property. It was felt by members of the Planning Board that access to industrial property would be more properly located in this area than from the residentially constructed Bolivar Avenue. No persons attended the meeting expressing opposition. Tal Harrison made the motion, seconded by Terry Coble, to recommend approval of the request. This motion passed unanimously. B. Calvin Hearne, High Point, North Carolina, requested that approximately 5 acres on Wright Road, SR #1554; approximately 900' from State Road #1440; Zoning Map 1-2; Trinity Township; be re-zoned from Residential Suburban to Conditional Use Light Industrial. This would allow the construction of a frame shop on the property. Harvey Welborne, Forestdale Realty, Thomasville, North Carolina, attended the meeting representing the owner. No persons attended the meeting to express opposition to the request. Charles Adams made the motion, seconded by Doyle Stout to approve the request. The motion passed unanimously. Recommendations from the Planning Board will be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners who will consider the requests at Public Hearing on Monday, April 1, 1985 at 4:00 p.m. 4.
