RANDOLPH COUNTY PLANNING BOARD

7779 April 16, 1986
There was a meeting of the County Planning Board on Wednesday, April 16,
1986 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom B, County Courthouse, Asheboro, North Carolina.
The following members were present:
Don Hancock, Chairman ABSENT
Doyle Stout, Vice-Chairman
Tal Harrison Ray Farlow
Terry Coble Bud Osborne
Charles Adams
1. Tal Harrison made the motion, seconded by Doyle Stout to approve the minutes
of the February 26 meeting. This motion passed unanimously.
2. RE-ZONING REQUEST:
A. Paul Thomas, Trinity, North Carolina, requested that his residential lot
located at 107 Meadowbrook Drive, SR #1786, Trinity Township, Zoning
Map 1-2, be re-zoned from Residential Suburban to Commercial Conditional
Use.
It is the desire of Mr. Thomas to construct a 28' x 14' building to be
used as a beauty parlor.
After review and discussion Terry Coble made the motion, seconded by
Charles Adams to recommend approval of the request. This motion passed
unanimously and will be forwarded to the County Commissioners May 5.
3. SUBDIVISION REVIEW
A. Preliminary Plat: Finch Farm Acres; 19 lots; SR #1547; Trinity Township;
Archdale Home Builders, owner; Edward Teer, Surveyor.
Doyle Stout made the motion, seconded by Terry Coble to approve. This
motion passed unanimously.
B. Preliminary Plat: Farmwood Subdivision; Cedar Grove Township; 22 lots;
Highway 49; Charles Voncannon, owner; Steve Brown, Surveyor.
Tal Harrison made the motion, seconded by Doyle Stout to approve. This
motion passed unanimously.
C. REQUEST FOR VARIANCE
1. George Bullard, Greensboro, North Carolina, Level Cross Township,
requested a Variance from the county Subdivision Ordinance that requires
a paved -public road. Mr. Bullard desired to subdivide 3 lots leading to
his house off of Hidden Forest Subdivision. Mr. Bullard stated that he
would place the same restrictions on the lots as those already in place
for Hidden Forest Subdivision, and that he would not further subdivide
the property. Mr. Bullard produced survey plans indicating the road was
built to state standards except for paving. A bed of crush stone was in
place on the road. Mr. Bullard also noted that the roads leading into
his property although state maintained were not paved.
After review and discussion, Terry Coble made the motion, seconded by
Charles Adams to approve the variance. The Planning Board stipulated
that the property was not to be further subdivided. This motion passed
unanimously.

4. A brief review of the Upper Randolph County Land Development Plan was
discussed by the Board. No action was taken pending a review by the
PTCOG extended study.
5. Being no further business the meeting adjourned.
