The Randolph County Board of Commissioners held a work session with
the Randolph County Planning Board at 7:00 p.m. , January 5, 1987, in the
Public Library Conference Room, 201 Worth Street, Asheboro, N. C.
Commissioners Frye, Langley, Davidson, Petty and Comer were present.
Planning Board members Don Hancock, Charles Adams, Guy Troy, Ray Farlow
and Tal Harrison were also present.
Hal Johnson, Planning Director, presented the proposed Land Development
Plan for northern and western townships in Randolph County.
Lindsay Cox, Executive Director of the Piedmont Triad Council of
Governments (PTCOG) , presented information on tha Zoning Maps which
have been prepared by PTCOG to date. He and Ginger Booker, attorney
for PTCOG, discussed general aspects of the proposed new zoning ordinance,
which will supercede and combine several ordinances Randolph county already
has.
It was agreed by all present to conduct the following meetings in
order for Commissioners to become more familiar with the ordinance and
to provide citizen input during the zoning process:
January 19 Joint meeting of Planning Board and County Commissioner:;
7:00 p.m. on proposed draft of Zoning Ordinance
Possible second work session
February 17 Public Hearing on zoning in Liberty and Providence
7:00 p.m. Townships at Liberty Elementary School
February 19 Public Hearing on zoning in New Market and Level
7:00 p.m. Cross Townships at Randleman High School
February 24 Public Hearing on zoning in Trinity Township at
7:00 p.m. Trinity High School
February 26 Public Hearing on zoning in Tabernacle and Back
7:00 p.m. Creek Townships at Tabernacle Elementary School
March 3 Public Hearing in Concord, Parts of Cedar Grove and
7:00 p.m. New Hope Townships at Farmer Elementary School
March 31 Final Review of Public Hearings to date by Planning
7:00 p.m. Board; make any needed changes and submit to Board
of County Commissioners
Final Public Hearing and adoption of Zoning Ordinance
and Zoning Maps by County Commissioners
No action was taken at this meeting, which was adjourned at approximately
9:00 p.m.
