RANDOLPH COUNTY ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
August 6, 1996
1 . Chairman Aweilda Williams called to Order the Randolph
County Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting.
2 . Hal Johnson, Planning Director, called roll of the
members : Aweilda Williams , Chairman, present; Maxton
McDowell, Vice Chairman, present; Charles Adams,
present; :Lynden Craven, present; Jim Routh, present;
Bill Dorsett, present; and Phil Brower, absent.
3 . Routh made the motion, seconded by McDowell , to approve
the July 9 , 1996 County Zoning Board of Adjustment
Meeting Minutes. The motion passed.
4 . Swearing in of the Witnesses:
"Do you swear or affirm that the information you are
about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and
nothing but the truth, so help you God. "
Annette Robinette took this Oath.
5. REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE:
ANNETTE ROBINETTE, Denton, North Carolina, is
requesting a variance to allow 2 primary use structures
(residences) on a 6. 5 acre tract (a single zoning lot) .
Location: Salem Church Road, 6 . 5 acres , Concord
Township, Zoning Map #6698 , Zoning District RA.
**Arguments for Granting this Request
Robinette said that he purchased the land in July for
his family to be located in the same community as the
church they started back in April. At the time of
purchase he did not realize he would not be allowed to
locate his son' s family on the property also. The two
homes would be occupied by his family and his son' s
family. Robinette said they would not subdivide the
property.
There were 6 citizens present in favor of this request.
**Arguments Against Granting this Request
There was no one present in opposition to this request.
**Board Discussion: Conclusions Based on Findings of
Fact
McDowell said that he felt there was a need to grant
this variance. McDowell said that he did not feel this
request would violate the intent of the County
Ordinance and it would not substantially injure the
value of adjoining property.
**Order of the Zoning Board of Adjustment
McDowell made the motion, seconded by Adams , to approve
this request for a Variance with the conditions that
the property not be subdivided and no more than two
residences be allowed on the property. The motion
passed unanimously.
6. The meeting adjourned.
