RANDOLPH COUNTY ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

December 3, 1996
There was a meeting held at 6: 30 p.m. , on Tuesday,
December 3, 1996, of the Randolph County Zoning Board of
Adjustment in the Commissioners ' Meeting Room, Randolph
County Office Building, 725 McDowell Road, Asheboro, North
Carolina.
1 . Chairperson Aweilda Williams called the meeting to
Order.
2 . Hal Johnson, Planning Director, called roll of the
members: Aweilda Williams, Chairperson, present;
Maxton McDowell, Vice Chairman, present; Charles Adams ,
present; Lynden Craven, present; Jim Routh, present;
Bill Dorsett, present; and Phil Brower, absent.
3. Bill Dorsett made the motion, seconded by Lynden
Craven, to approve the Minutes of the November 12 , 1996
Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting. The motion passed.
4 . Swearing in of the Witnesses:
"Do you swear or affirm that the information you are
about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and
nothing but the truth, so help you God. "
2 person took this Oath.
5. REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE:
BRUCE OGLE, Randleman, North Carolina, is requesting a
Variance to allow a third dwelling for a family member
on 10 . 28 acres fronting on a private road in lieu of
the required 5 acre minimum lot size per residence
fronting on a private road. Location: Irvan Country
Road (off New Salem Road) ; Providence Township; Zoning
Map #7776; Zoning District RA.
**Arguments for Granting this Request
Ogle was present and explained his need to place an
additional residence on his property for his
sister-in-law. Ogle said that she is disabled and is
76 years old. This would enable them to be closer to
her in case she needed help. Ogle said he did not
intend on deeding the property out and the site would
not be used after she was gone. Ogle ' s wife explained
that her sister had heart trouble and is the oldest of
eleven children. She said her sister had looked after
her parents until their death and that she had promised
her sister that she would look after her as long as she
lived.
**Arguments Against Granting this Request
There was no one present in opposition to this request.
**Board Discussion: Conclusions Based on Findings of
Fact
Craven said that he felt the Ogle ' s had an obvious
hardship and that he commended the Ogles for wanting to
take care of their family.
**Order of the Board of Adjustment
Craven made the motion, seconded by Adams , to approve
this request for a Variance. The motion passed
unanimously.
6. The meeting adjourned. There were 2 citizens present
for this meeting.
