05MayPB ;p �. 90; MINUTES • ii' RANDOLPH COUNTY PLANNING BOARD __1779 May 2, 1995 1. Vice Chairman Aweilda Williams called to Order the Randolph County Planning Board meeting at 7 : 00 p.m. 2. Hal Johnson, Planning Director, called roll of the Members: Charles Adams, Chairman, absent; Aweilda Williams, Vice Chairman, present; Tim Poole, present; Lynden Craven, present; Jim Routh, present; Bill Dorsett, present; Phil Brower; and Maxton McDowell , Alternate, absent. 3. Lynden Craven made the motion, seconded by Jim Routh, to approve the Minutes of the April 4 , 1995 Planning Board meeting. The motion passed unanimously. 4. Swearing in of the Witnesses: "Do you swear or affirm the information you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God. " 1 citizen took this Oath. 5. SPECIAL USE PERMIT REQUEST: LARRY WILSON, Asheboro, North Carolina, is requesting a Special Use Permit for the expansion of a non-conforming use (Red' s Use Cars) for a 40 ' x 40 ' building (car & car part storage) located at 6436 U.S. Hwy 64W (just past Robbins Circle) , Tabernacle Township, Zoning Map #7712 , Zoning District RA. Wilson explained to the Board that he has operated this business since 1986 . Johnson stated that this property is not zoned for business but Wilson operation was allowed under a non-conforming use due to its existence prior to Zoning. Wilson said that he approximately 2 acres in this old subdivision. Currently Wilson' s business is located mainly in front of his house but if he is approved to build his new building he plans to relocate all the cars in front of this building. Wilson said that this building would be located on the vacant lot between his house and a mobile home he owns (two lots down from his house) . Wilson explained his intentions to construct the building and gravel a portion of this property in front of this building to locate the cars. Wilson said he wants to move all his outside storage into this building. Wilson said that he would not be performing any repairs on-site, he will continue to send all his work out to other businesses . There was no one present in opposition to this request. Dorsett said that he felt this request would enhance his business and the community. Dorsett made the motion to approve this request for a Special Use Permit with these restrictions: **consolidate the operation on the vacant lot between his house and mobile home (cars located in front of the new building) **no outside storage Phil Brower seconded the motion.
