MINUTES
RANDOLPH COUNTY PLANNING BOARD
April 21, 1992
There was a Special meeting of the Randolph County
Planning Board on Tuesday, April 21, 1992 , at 7 : 00 p.m. ,
in the Commissioners' Meeting Room, at the County Office
Building, 707 McDowell Road, Asheboro, North Carolina.
1 . Chairman Bill Dorsett Call the meeting to Order at
7 : 00 p.m.
2 . Hal Johnson, Planning Director, called roll of the
Board members: Bill Dorsett, Chairman, present; Phil
Brower, Vice Chairman, absent; Jim Routh, present;
Lynden Craven, present; Charles Adams, present;
Aweilda Williams, present; Doyle Stout, absent;
Maxton McDowell, Alternate, absent; and Arlie Culp,
Alternate, present (substituting for regular member
Phil Brower) .
3 . Charles Adams made the motion, seconded by Lynden
Craven, to approve the minutes of the April 7 , 1992
meeting with the adjustments to include additions of
"passed unanimously by Board" where this was left off
minutes. The motion passed unanimously.
4 . The purpose of this PUBLIC HEARING was to adopt
PRIVATE ROAD names for those roads located in the
Asheboro Postal District - Routes 1, 6, & 10.
The following citizens attended the meeting and made
road name suggestions:
A: Joel Gollis, Route 1, Box 32B, Asheboro, North
Carolina, asked for the road designated "Swift
Fox Trail" be named "Fox Run Drive" and that
Road designated "Fox Run Drive" be designated
"Swift Fox Trail" . Mr. Gollis explained that his
community had already purchased a painted sign
and registered the name in 1983 .
B: Warren Coble, Route 1, Box 385A, Asheboro, North
Carolina, requested that Maness Farm Road be
designated "Maness-Coble Drive" .
C: Lewis Maness, 453 Ragsdale Road, Asheboro, North
Carolina, attended the meeting to express his
support for the road naming project and to make

sure his road name "Ragsdale Road" did not

change.
After discussion, Lynden Crave made the motion,
seconded by Jim Routh, to approve the Private Road
Names with the corrections requested by citizens in
attendance. This motion passed unanimously.
5. Being no further business the meeting adjourned at
7: 35 p.m.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PRIVATE ROAD NAME RECOMMENDATIONS
ASHEBORO POSTAL DISTRICT - ROUTES 1, 6, & 10
The Public is advised that on Tuesday, April 21, 1992 ,
at 7 : 00 p.m. , in the Commissioners' Meeting Room, Randolph
County Office Building, 707 McDowell Road, Asheboro, the
Randolph County Planning Board will conduct a Public Hearing as
required to adopt official Private Road Names for those roads
located in the Asheboro Postal District - Routes 1, 6, & 10.
For purpose of this Countywide project, a PRIVATE ROAD is
defined as meeting the following criteria:
1 . The Road is open for general public traffic travel and
serves a minimum of 3 residences or addressable structures
in separate and different ownership.
2 . The Road is not State maintained.
ti.. 3 . The Road is not located within the corporate limits of a
municipality.
Interested citizens are invited to attend this meeting and
will be given the opportunity to make comments or suggestions.
The following is a listing of the identified PRIVATE ROADS and
suggested official names: (The Private Road can be identified
by referencing the Subdivision location or State Road
connection)
