1. Lynden Craven, Vice Chairman, called the meeting to
Order at 7 : 00 p.m.
2. Hal Johnson, Planning Director , welcomed the
citizens (of the Northwest Quadrant of Randolph
County - North of Highway 64/West of Business
Highway 220) for their participation in Randolph
County' s Road Naming Project. Johnson explained
that this was the 4th and final Community meeting
(with the Planning Board) to make road name sugges-
tions and after this meeting the Planning Staff
will work for the next month and a half compiling
the information received during these Community
meetings, from Fire Departments, Historical
Society, from State DOT, and petitions from
citizens. Johnson stated that in early April the
list of recommendations will be presented to the
Board of Commissioners to make final decisions on
road names after Public Hearings. Johnson opened
the meeting for suggestions.
A: Mary Bowman, resident of Pineview Avenue, High
Point, requested that SR 1629 remain named
Pineview Avenue because the residents of this
road had gone through one name change with the
High Point Post Office and another name change
would be so hard for the elderly residents of
this street. Bowman added that this road had
already been given a street name and house
numbers by the High Point Post Office. Bowman
presented the Board with a petition.
B: Bobby Campbell, Trinity, requested that SR
1566 be named Fairview Church Road because it
has been known this for years. Campbell
expressed his support of this project and
added that since he has resided on this road
his route number has gone from route 1 to
route 4 .
C: Linda Hollingsworth Brown, Route 2, Randleman,
requested that SR 1646 be named Hollingsworth
Road because there are 9 houses on this road
and 6 of the 9 are decendents of her grand-
father Hollingsworth that moved here in the
1920 ' s. Brown presented the Board with a
petition.

that SR 1949 be named Old Plank Road because
this was the original historic name given to

years .

only 2/10 mile long.
G: Steve Kindschi , 2334 Lamb Road, Randleman,
requested that SR 1516 be named Richardson
Lane or Clifford Richardson Lane because Mr .
Richardson built this road in 1948 to provide

State in 1949 . Kindschi added that when the
By-Pass came through it cut the Richardson
Property down the center .
H: David Thompson, Route 5, High Point, requested

location until his death in 1981 .

by this name for years. Linthicum added that
in 1952 he got the State to pave the road.

her family has owned property on this road for
5 generations and her grandfather was a
