B, Randolph County Courthouse, 145 Worth Street, Asheboro, North Carolina . 1 . Vice Chairman Lyndon Craven called to Order the Randolph County Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting at 7 :00 p.m. 2. Hal Johnson, ?laming Director, called roll of the members: DoyI.Q__3toU_ .r_ChA XII 33i__ Agelt- ; Lynden Craven, Vice Chairman, present; Charles Adams, • present; Guy Troy, present; Bill Dorsett, present; Aweilda Little, present; Jim Routh, present; Maxton McDowell, Alternate (substituting for regular member Doyle Stout) , present; and Arlie Culp, - Alternate, absent . 3 . Lynden Craven announ ed that the case before the Board was Betty Clark (lot size Variance) . I.Ial Johnson, Planning Director , gave a brief summary of this case. Johnson stated that Betty • Clark; Franklinville, North Carolina, is requesting a Variance to allow a single family residence on a two acre lot with no State Road frontage (Property • Locat_on: Oak Hollow Subdivision, lot 23 (off SR : 2453) Franklinville Township, Zoning Map #7795, Zoning District R-A. Johnson stated that Ms. Clark would like to deed. two acres to her son. ' Johnson added that the gravel drive from this lot to the private drive (into the subdivision) would be a adequate access . Betty Clark stated that she wanted to deed the two acres to her son and allow one acre that adjoins the creek to be left for conservation. Clark stated that she wanted to give this land to her son because she felt that you should heli todays young people get a .goo': start in life. Mr . Clark stated that his son had a wife and new bab'yr and plans to build a house here in the near future. Pts. Clark presented letters from adjoining property owners that were in favor of this request. r . _Mark Redwine, Oak 3ollow Subdivision, Lot 13, stated that he did :not see why the lot would need to be broken off and sold because no type of hardship had been described in this case . Bill Dorsett, Board member, asked Redwine if the deed restrictions (for this subdivision) made any reference to resubdividing lots. Redwine stated that the restrictions made allowance for two residences (owned by the same person) to be located on an individual lot in case of a hardship (such as caring for an elderly parent, etc. ) . Ms. Redwine added that there were still one acre :Lots available in this subdivision if the Clark ' s ' son was looking for a smaller lot (less than 5 acres) . June 6 , 1:.)n9 Page 1 1.r, . Guy Troy, Board member , stated that he did not feel this request :should . e allowed because the Clarks bought: the -o:ope:ty with full knowledge that the Lot was to remain (and not resubdivided) . v Bill Dorsett , 7:1-...,az-c.5 member, stated that he felt that the intent of this subdivision .las for the Lots to remain in one piece (and not ;_esuadivided) . Dorsett added that there is no real hardship here which should be plain in order to consider an approval for a Variance. For these reason r Guy Troy made the :notion to Jelly this request.
