Growth Management Work Session — August 31, 2023
At 4:00 p.m., the Board opened a work session with the Randolph County Planning Board to
hear the presentation of the draft for the addition to the Growth Management Plan for the northeast
quadrant of the county. Chairman Darrell Frye, Vice-Chairman David Allen, Commissioner Hope
Haywood, Commissioner Maxton McDowell, and Commissioner Kenny Kidd were present. Staff
present from the County were County Manager Hal Johnson, Assistant County Manager/Finance
Officer Will Massie, Assistant County Manager/Operations William Johnson, Deputy Clerk to the
Board Jenny Parks, and Clerk to the Board Dana Crisco.
County Manager Hal Johnson opened the meeting and explained the history of the Growth
Management Plan. Jesse Day and José Colón from the Piedmont Triad Regional Council presented
a PowerPoint presentation with the suggested changes and additions. Planning Director Tonya
Caddle explained how this document would continue to change as the county grew. Chairman
Frye thanked those in the audience for coming to hear the presentation.
At 6:00 p.m., the work session adjourned.
