062188MINUTES RANDOLPH COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JUNE 219 1988 The Randolph County Board of Commissioners met in special session at 7:00 p.m. on June 21, 1988 in Courtroom B, Courthouse, Asheboro, NC. Commissioners Frye, Langley, Davidson, Petty and Comer were present. The purpose of the meeting was to adopt the 1988-89 budget. Chairman Frye recommended the following changes to the Manager's proposed budget: • To fund the County Schools Current Expense at $4,506,118 ($278,242 less than proposed), which would fund their continuation budget adjusted to 4i7o salary increase and would provide $93,717 that should be used for an additional $100 per teacher supplement. (The continuation budget already included the first $100 per teacher supplement, so the additional $93,717 would provide enough funds for a total supplement of $200 per teacher.) . • To fund the City Schools Current Expense at $1,195,664 ($73,829 less than proposed), which is the counterpart of the County Schools Current Expense total, based on the City Schools' percent of ADM. • To fund County Schools Capital Outlay at $3,250,000 ($250,000 more than proposed). • To fund City Schools Capital Outlay at $738,590 ($200,000 more than proposed). • To cut the two Library Assistant positions (at a savings of $11,256). • To cut the Social Worker position (at a savings of $22,326). • To cut the Community Health Aide, Clerk Typist, and Health Educator positions (at a savings of $34,264). • To increase Register of Deed Fees by $15,000 (for a new total of $300,000). • To increase Ambulance Fees by $5,000 (for a new total of $221,000). • To increase Inspection Fees by $10,083 (for a new total of $260,083). On motion of Langley, seconded by Davidson, the Board adopted the 1988-89 Budget Ordinance with the above recommended changes, with a total budget of $26,845,564 and a 45� per $100 valuation tax rate. Budget Ordinance included by reference. On motion of Petty, seconded by Comer, the Board approved fire district tax rates as proposed (the new Bennett Fire District at 5� and all others at the same rate as last year). A copy of the fire district tax rates is included by reference. On motion of Petty, seconded by Langley, the Board approved the Asheboro City School District tax at 14.5 and Archdale -Trinity School District at 10�, the same as last year. A copy of these rates is included by reference. On motion of Davidson, seconded by Petty, the Board adjourned.
