c090605-I Timken-StarpetClosed Session I (Timken, Starpet) — September 6, 2005 At 6:12 p.m. the Board adjourned to closed session to discuss matters relating to the location or expansion of business in the area, pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(4). Commissioners Holmes, Kemp, Frye, Lanier and Davis were present, as well as County Manager Frank Willis; County Attorney Alan Pugh; Aimee Scotton, Associate County Attorney; Cheryl Ivey, Deputy Clerk; Alice Dawson, Clerk to the Board; and Bonnie Renfro from Randolph County Economic Development Corporation (EDC). Bonnie Renfro announced that The Timken Company has accepted the $400,000 economic incentive package offered by both Randolph County and Randleman ($200,000 each) for its expansion plans for the Randleman plant. She asked that the Board set a joint public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on September 22, 2005 with the City of Randleman. Ms. Renfro also announced that Starpet, Inc. has accepted the $500,000 economic incentive package offered by both Randolph County and Asheboro ($250,000 each) to assist with increasing its on-site rail capacity. She asked that the Board set a joint public hearing for 6:30 p.m. on September 22, 2005 with the City of Asheboro. Closed session on this topic ended at 6:20 p.m. J.
