C031097Closed Session - March 10, 1977 At 8:25 p.m. the Board went into closed session to consider the acquisition of real property, pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(5). Commissioners Kemp, Frye, Davis, Holmes, and Mason were present. Also present were Frank Willis, County Manager; Alice Dawson, Clerk to the Board; and Ed Gavin, County Attorney. Mr. Willis told the Board that Rex Hurley had approached him with an offer to sell to the County a 1.8 -acre lot located behind the McDowell Center for $8000. The tax value on this property is $15,680, and it is zoned I-1 (Industrial Low -Density) by the City of Asheboro. Mr. Willis said that purchasing this property would protect the County from an industry locating there since it is zoned industrial and can be accessed from another property. It would provide a good buffer for the McDowell Center and could be used for parking or other expansion in the future, if necessary. The Board discussed Mr. Hurley's offer to sell this property and went back into regular session at 8:35 p.m. Phil Kemp, Chairman J. Harold Holmes Robert O. Mason Darrell L. Frye Robert B.
