At 5:50 p.m. the Board went into closed session to consider the qualifications,
competence, performance, or condition of employment of a public officer or employee or
prospective public officer or employee, pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 143-
318.1 l (a)(6). Commissioners Kemp, Frye, Davis, Holmes, and Mason were present. Also
present were Frank Willis, County Manager; County Attorney, Alan Pugh; and Cheryl Ivey,
Deputy Clerk to the Board.
The Board discussed the professional qualifications of Ben Chavis for serving as Randolph
County Assessor/Tax Collector.
On motion of Davis, seconded by Mason, the Board unanimously voted at 6:10 p.m. to
return to regular session.
