The Randolph County Board of Commissioners met in special session at 10:30 a.m. on April 24, 1996.
Commissioners Meeting Room, 725 McDowell Road, Asheboro, NC, in order to award bids on furniture for thf
Social Services Department, Sheriffs Department, and the new detention facility. Commissioners Kemp, Frye
Davis, Holmes, and Comer were present.
Jane Leonard, Deputy Finance Officer, presented the bids, which were divided into Sections A-E. All bic
tabulations are incorporated by reference (ATTACHED) and made a part of these minutes.
Section A - Casegoods
Items in this section are to be awarded to one bidder. Ms. Leonard noted that the lowest bidder, Officc
Interiors, did not meet specifications, and some of those items are not acceptable to Social Services.
On motion of Holmes, seconded by Comer, the Board unanimously awarded casegoods to the lowest
qualified bidder, Asheboro Business Machines, at the price of $141,059.35.
Section B - Tables
Items in this section are to be awarded by individual item.
On motion of Frye, seconded by Davis, the Board unanimously awarded the bids for tables to the lowest
bidders: Connell Office Supplies, $175; MacThrift Office Furniture, $2,312.
Section C - Bookcases
Items in this section are to be awarded to one bidder.
On motion of Davis, seconded by Holmes, the Board unanimously awarded the bid to the lowest bidder.
Asheboro Business Machines, at the price of $7,891.69.
Section D - Seating
Items in this section are to be awarded by individual item. Ms. Leonard noted that 5 items bid by Elliott
Office Equipment did not meet specifications.
On motion of Frye, seconded by Holmes, the Board unanimously awarded the bids for seating to the
lowest qualified bidders: Asheboro Business Machines, $30,759.52; Connell Office Supplies, $37,447.00
Elliott Office Equipment, $3,440.00; MacThrift Office Furniture, $13,801.42; Office Interiors, Inc., $405.00
Section E - Files and Other Items
Items in this section are to be awarded by individual item.
On motion of Comer, seconded by Frye, the Board unanimously awarded bids for files and other items tc
the lowest bidders: Asheboro Business Machines, $3,948.82; Connell Office Supplies, $9,316.00.
