S091995The Randolph County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on September 19, 1995 at AVS Banquet Center, 2045 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC. The purpose of this meeting was to hear a public presentation highlighting results of the Countywide Strategic Planning process. All elected officials (county and Municipal) along with citizens who participated in this process were invited. Commissioners Kemp, Frye, Comer, Davis, and Holmes were present. Opening remarks were given by Don Hancock, Mayor of Archdale and Strategic Planning Steering Committee Chairman. Mayor Hancock called attention to the Strategic Plan Executive Summary of which everyone in attendance received a copy. Alan Pugh introduced the keynote speaker, Harold Brubaker, Speaker, N.C. House of Representatives. Following Mr. Brubaker's remarks Hal Johnson introduced the Chairman and Vice -Chairman of each of the four individual task forces: Economic Development Jack Lail, Chairman Keith Crisco, Vice -Chairman Water Talmadge Baker, Chairman Dean Spinks, Vice -Chairman Public Education Lynn Qualls, Chairman Roland Albertson, Vice Chairman Sing Candie Rudzinski (Not present) Tom Meacham Each Chairman and Vice -Chairman presented a summary of his findings and strategies. Hal Johnson requested that the County and each municipality adopt a resolution of support for the implementation of the strategic planning process at each of their next meetings. Hal Johnson and Mayor Hancock presented a plaque to David Long, Chief Planner, N.C. Dept. of Commerce, Division of Community Assistance, Winston-Salem Regional Office, for his assistance with the strategic plan. Closing remarks were given by Phil Kemp. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
